- The national flag of India was designed by Pingali Venkayya.
- In 1931, a resolution was passed to adopt the tricolor as the national flag of India.
- On 22nd July 1947, the current form of the flag was adopted by the constituent assembly of India.
- The tricolor is horizontal and rectangular in shape with three bands.
- Saffron signifies strength and courage. White denotes peace and truth. Green denotes fertility, growth and auspiciousness.
- At the center of the white band, there is Ashoka Chakra in navy blue colour. This Chakra has 24 spokes and stands for justice and forwardness.
- The flag ratio of width vs length is 2:3.
